(Examination Project) Simon Stålenhag’s illustrations showcase a dystopian Swedish/American society in the 1980s and 1990s, with locations based on his childhood and nostalgia. However, in what appears to be ordinary Swedish landscapes, monsters, robots, and constellations that previously only existed in imagination loom. To take his world-renowned works a step further, we have created an interactive reading experience filled with animated illustrations, music, and interactive capabilities. Essentially, it accomplishes everything a book cannot. With a new complementary visual style and a new website, we also strengthen Stålenhag’s brand while creating more content for both old and new fans to enjoy. My roles in the project was primarily art director, creating the brand, webbdesigner, and HTML/CSS/Javascript developer.
